Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cancer Biology
Johns Hopkins University
The Division of Nuclear Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in the area of cancer biology.
The position will focus on investigating tumor biology, and on characterizing the molecular and genetic determinants of tumor responses to targeted therapies, thus paving the way for the development of better therapeutic agents and imaging probes. Projects for this position include: optimizing the dosing of molecularly targeted therapeutic agents, using state-of-the-art chemical tools and imaging techniques; identifying molecular underpinnings of therapeutic sensitivity and resistance in lung cancers; and assisting in the development of novel therapeutics and imaging probes focused on cancer immunotherapy. Candidate will work in a highly interactive, interdisciplinary, and translational research environment. He or she will be expected to collaborate with a number of research groups.
Competitive applicants will possess: a Ph.D. or M.D. degree in biological sciences or a related field with <2 years of post-doc experience, and be scientifically passionate; scientific background in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and immunology; active interest in cancer biology and molecular therapeutics with a strong publication record; a keen interest in applying imaging and other novel technologies to address unique scientific questions; ability to work independently as well as in a team environment towards timely execution of projects and results; aptitude to suggest, implement and deliver novel project ideas and to engage funding opportunities; flexibility to devise and conduct diverse rigorous experiments in collaboration with chemists and imaging scientists; strong analytical, organizational, communication, time management, and interpersonal skills. Desirable but not a prerequisite are experience in working with chemists and a chemistry driven environment, and prior experience in rodent handling and imaging technologies.
