The breast cancer biology laboratory of Dr. James Jackson is interested in investigating breast cancer tumorigenesis and treatment response. We employ mouse genetic models, tissue culture, sequencing/bioinformatics, cell biology, microscopy and molecular biology techniques. The laboratory of Dr. Zachary Pursell is seeking a post-doctoral research fellow to study DNA replication and genome instability, in particular the effects of DNA polymerase mutations on mutagenesis and tumorigenesis. We take a multi-disciplinary approach to these studies, using in vitro biochemistry, cell culture and mouse genetic models. Successful applicants will be proficient in at least one, if not more, of these areas, and will be trained in the others. Additional experience in next generation sequencing and bioinformatics analyses is beneficial. The laboratory of Dr. Heather Machado is seeking a highly motivated, goal oriented and hardworking postdoctoral fellow. A postdoctoral research position is available to study macrophage-driven signaling pathways that regulate premalignant progression to invasive breast cancer. Studies include understanding how the microenvironment promotes cell invasion during breast cancer initiation. Several mouse models as well as cell culture models will be used. The postdoctoral fellow will conduct independent experiments, which includes experimental design, data collection and interpretation, presenting data and national meetings, manuscript preparation, and writing of a postdoctoral grant. Research experience in the areas of cell culture, RNA and protein analysis, basic molecular biology techniques, flow cytometry, and microscopy is required. Preference will be given to candidates with documented experience in animal models of breast tumorigenesis, mammary gland transplantation, cell signaling, and breast cancer biology.
Applicants must have, or will very soon obtain a PhD in cell and molecular biology, or related fields. Candidates should have at least one first author research paper in a peer-reviewed journal.
